Seems as though the void power has changed again. Now everybody remains conscious and their voids take a slightly different form that looks more like the crystals created by the virus. I could write up a guess as to why it keeps changing, but it'd assume Ghost in the Shell levels of intent by the writers for it to actually be true...

Everyone remaining conscious after their voids were taken out happened way before ep19.

Awesome episode, cant wait for the plot twist where Shu still lives after a final battle that surly should have blown up a 3rd of the planet

Lelouch actually died at the end of Code Geass season 2. I wouldn't put it past them to kill him here.

No. Lelouch did NOT actually die at the end of R2. He fulfilled C.C.'s wish and took her immortality before he was "killed." Here, I just did a quick Google search and clicked the first one, but this looks like it does a decent job explaining it:

Im pretty sure the creators of the show themselves said he is dead and that is canon.

Which doesn't make any sense to me because if he fulfilled C.C.'s wish, then he'd be immortal. He promised to fulfill her wish himself.

Yeah, everybody was coming up with their own theories for that series. Doesn't mean it actually happened. As far as the animation is concerned, he's dead. The author of the post even states this is likely a product of his own bias at the end:

My interpretation of the ending could also be just my unwillingness to accept Leluch’s death.

Wow it was a pretty good episode. It actually explains a lot of things.

I hate how they made it so that if Shu dies, the people whose voids he has will die too. To me, that more or less kill any chance of him dying in the end, which was actually the ending I expected.

Just finished watching 20 and 21 after a little hiatus, but its definitely picking up now... And after reading on Wiki. 22 Is the last episode. So next week thursday is the finale. Cant wait!

I was hoping for a little ayase, shoe love when he picked her up. But inori is most likely coming back....
