A lot of MMOs (most actually nowadays) have optical slots, were you can put costumes or armor you visually like which will override the chars appearance :)

like i said before ive never watched .hack, but this anime feels a lot like mmos we play but with more realism, hp, items, potions, dungeons, trading, loot system, player killing, towns that are like safe zones

well , i watched dot hack sign, twilight and another one.
it was so empty and dead inside compared to these series...
sign is good until the twelfth ep or so.
basically hack seems to me like an mmo with nothing to do in it, just one goal: get to the end
sword is like mmos years later with interesting npcs, fleshed out world lots of side quests etc.
i remember forcing myself to watch hack because i wanted to get to the end and know what would happen, but had to go through allthose empty promises of plot twist and what not.
sword, i don't know what i ll find each ep. i know the goal butthere are interesting stuff happening in between. it is n't that clever dont get me wrong it isn't the best series hands down, but it is really entertaining contrary tohack.

i like it it means to me that they know what they are doing.
the meaty part will be toward the end like a real game. you breaza through to a certain point where the climbing is steep.
