I was thinking that maybe the Queerats are the humans from one of the other groups.
They can apparently speak and they resemble humans. Just a thought.

I've seen a lot of people speculate that they're the result of using PK on humans like with the PK driven evolution that has taken place with all the other weird creatures cropping up.

Even if that was the case they aren't human any more, they're a unique species, that's obvious and they resemble humanoid naked mole-rats more than any type of primate.

Not important though as far as the death feedback goes, Rijin doesn't consciously see them as humans, but he subconciously associated their shape with humans from afar and that was enough to add to the effect of his death feedback.

Also, appearing human from afar wasn't an intentional defence mechanism in their case unlike the false Minoshiro, I doubt the invading Bakenezumi had any idea what they were getting into.

That's updated every episode though, and it's from the perspective of what the children in the village might know or think at that point, so it could turn out to be wrong.
