I thought it was because he'd rather have friends then a girlfriend. Having a girlfriend and choosing one of them over the others would change the group dynamic. I enjoyed this season a good bit more. Nice to see some real story development.

Also had a sigh of relief when it was confirmed that Kodaka actually has a personality, and that it isn't the same as every awful MC that's come from Nippon.

Looking forward to season three. Should be good.
