Re: Build a PC!
My 8800gt died yesterday and I'm stuck on a psp. If any of you can help me locate a cheap but effective replacement, I won't be in despair. Thanks in advance.

I'm not as big a PC gamer as I once was, but I'll try to help. Are you planning on buying a new PSU also?

Re: Build a PC!
My power supply is fine, I had to replace the old one last year. My cpu is my system's bottleneck so getting anything better in terms of graphical power isn't worth it. I'd just like to find something of similar power to hold me by. As I don't plan on building the next super pc till the next console generation starts. The card I had was an XFX 8800gt Alpha Dog edition zalman vers.Rex wrote:I'm not as big a PC gamer as I once was, but I'll try to help. Are you planning on buying a new PSU also?

What's your budget, anyway? I don't wanna assume what "cheap" is.

Re: Build a PC!
The closer to below $100, the better. I'm rather short on cash at this time, so I need a deal hunter. Perferably a card that can at least run source games. And isnt complete shit tier. And don't forget I cant watch videos on this thing so bencmarks are pointless. Links please.

Re: Build a PC!
I think these should fit the bill, but do some extra research to make sure:
Radeon HD 6750 ($90)
Radeon HD 6670 ($65)
Radeon HD 6750 ($90)
Radeon HD 6670 ($65)

What do videos have to do with benchmarks? Either way, this one's under $100 after the rebate and shipping.

Re: Build a PC!
For anybody thinking about the 7950, the gtx 670 seems to have usurped its throne as best $400 card and equals the 7970, which is AMD's best single gpu.

Gaming rig.
Uh let's see I think I want the budget to be from $600 to $700. $800 at max though. Monitor, keyboard, and mouse are not part of the cost so it doesn't matter. I want an SSD for the faster OS loading times but otherwise the second HDD will be a terabyte I know that.
Games to be played: The Witcher 2, Battlefield 3, Dragon Age, Diablo 3, and Skyrim to name a few.
I think that's all the information I can think of at the moment. And as you can tell I don't know much about building a pc :p

Also I just remembered one other thing: no AMD/Radeon. I don't know why but I have an ingrained dislike of them...I think it's cause they've tended to crap out on me a lot

Re: Build a PC!
Their processors are fine. What do you have against them? The worst that could happen is a DOA chip, and every one is tested before it leaves the factory anyway.

Sure, but they're all at least $90 more.TranClan67 wrote:Friends have had bad experiences with them. Are there any intel alternatives?Biokinetica wrote:Their processors are fine. What do you have against them?

We can easily downsize on the case considering I don't really care if it's fancy. lolBiokinetica wrote:Sure, but they're all at least $90 more.TranClan67 wrote:Friends have had bad experiences with them. That line has a good rep for air-flow, though.TranClan67 wrote:We can easily downsize on the case considering I don't really care if it's fancy. lolBiokinetica wrote:Sure, but they're all at least $90 more.TranClan67 wrote:Friends have had bad experiences with them. Also forgot the motherboard.
$127 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157281
But now it's over-budget. The only thing i'd lower is the gpu, but that means BF3 won't be looking all that great.
The Antec 900 also has a good reputation.
Also, the PSU will sorta depend on what you want your PC's efficiency to look like. The good ones are always north of $100.
