I'll have to return later this summer if I manage to get some work. I really need to build a desktop to replace the OLD one at home. My dad seems to think "more RAM" will speed it up.

Re: Build a PC!
np. That video is probably the best and most comprehensive tutorial for building a PC. The only thing is, I'm pretty sure in that video they use the spread method of applying thermal paste. I would not recommend that as that can create air bubbles if you don't spread it perfectly level. Personally, I prefer the dot method - the pressure from the heatsink distributes it pretty evenly.MikuHatsune wrote:oh snap thanks guys for the help
Just a little fyi for new builders, too little thermal paste is better than too much. I've seen articles where they try different amounts of thermal paste and record the CPU temps, and the ones with less thermal paste have lower temps than the ones with too much. Also, you don't want the thermal paste to go over the border and leak into the socket.
Re: Build a PC!
It could, but if you have 4 GB of ram already, it's not likely.RavenDW wrote:>dis thread

Need to clean out the drive of clutter. Run CCleaner and Defraggler. CCleaner will fix your registry issues (if you haven't done this you very well could have more than 600 issues; I have a friend that had that many issues). Defraggler is a really good disk defragmenter that will replace the shitty one in Windows.
Maybe we should make a thread about Recommended PC software.

Re: Build a PC!
Newegg unboxed the GTX 690. This thing has mini-liquid-cooling.

Re: Build a PC!
DEAR GOD! That thing costs about as much as my initial PC build (had to swap out card and get a CPU cooler). I wonder what resolution it can display.

That's your only question in regards to the card?
God that's like someone asking how many songs an mp3 player can hold.

Both the AMD 7000 series and NVIDIA 600 series can display 4k resolutions (4096 x 2160).

I already know the price. Sure there are other things, but with that much power I just want to know its maximum output. I am also interested in its multi-sampling and other rendering abilities.

Seriously, they're everywhere. A card like this is too expensive to 'sell out'.
