Apparently, Gremmy keeps trying to convince himself that he can imagine himself being stronger than Kenpachi
unfortunately, he can't even fathom kenpachi's power, so he keeps imagining himself being "stronger" and... pop

´The usual translator from BA says something like Gremmy tries to imagine himself as Zaraki, but in his mind Zaraki is some sort of monster so he transforms into a monster and dies.

Those were some freaky powers, I don't remember seeing that much gore in Bleach before but I'm probably wrong.
