Jojo and Naruto comes to mind, but in this case it's not exactly a time loop it's more an hallucination.

if it is was hallucination then for all we know he is dead already
he isn't just going to stare at him while he is doing sword moves to the air

so in my opinion it's a time loop, it's sort of a kick ass defense when you think about it, it's like having unlimited lives and you get to know you're opponent better and better until you beat him and the loop breaks.

The way I see it is that when you start thinking "I will kill my opponent" thats when the loop starts, point A. You do the fight until you get to point B which is killing your opponent. But when you get to point A which is the real time moment, everything you did between point A and B was just in your head but to your mind and senses it was real.
