I figured that when his dad wielded the Zangetsu. It made me realise he was given the Zangetsu because of the part of him that came from his dad. Now that he knows his origin his reiatsu has to meld into its own super special zanpakuto...

Oh this is just bullshit and Kubo knows it. Zangetsus been cool as fuck like the entire series and now that Kubos tired of it, he decides to write him off. Literally. Bullshit.
