I doubt I'm alone in expecting Masaoka to have died earlier if anything, his older mentor character archetype is a death flag in itself.

Suitably manly death though, he will be missed.

So it's obviously open ended and maybe there'll be a sequel, I wonder how they'd go about doing that though since there's really no mystery left and aside from Akane's knowledge of Sibyl things have ended very much how they began.

Man, Akane sure has hardened up a lot since the series started, not to mention her indifferent tone. But yeah, that all comes with the experience. She looked pretty badass in that last scene with her, Yayoi and Ginoza. Overall, it was a pretty decent ending with room for a season 2.

Couple of questions, though. In the credits, was that the Professor sitting in the Chief's office? And does anyone know what book Kougami was reading? Was it Makishima's?

edit: Just realized that the new Inspector was the same girl from that Girls Academy way back.

People keep saying "second season", but I don't know why.

It's an open ending. And it was a bit cheesy, at that.

The only way they could continue it, would be with an entirely new cast of characters, a generation or so later. And all that would amount to is seeing the Sibyl System taken down. Which isn't enough reason to go through all the effort.

I'm sure the sales of the series and merchandise will ultimately dictate any continuation, if at all.

Update: Psycho-Pass director Naoyoshi Shiotani mentioned at a directors panel at Sakura-Con on Saturday that that if the show gets enough support, there could be a second season.
