[Anime] Code Geass: Akito the Exiled

This is gonna be a 4-episode series being shown in theaters, and each ep will be around 50 minutes in length and will be premiered every three months followed by the Blu-ray release.

Not sure about having random characters be the focus of this group. Will still check it out though. I just hate the airs every three months part.

3D robots.... Color me disappointed.. I'l give it a shot, but thats a downfall right there... Code Geass's mech animation was brilliant.. This 3d shit is ruining allot of things..

I actually think the 3D mechs are looking pretty good, and this is coming from someone who usually hates it.

Some anime use 3d in a good way. Kinda Macross Frontier like.. But since code geass originally started as animated mech's its kind of dissapointed.. I mean, look at how badly they messed up the new berserk with the 3d.. Why cant they just animate it. It worked before, and was really good looking. So its just a bit dissapointing to suddenly change it.

I'm not saying the 3d looks bad, it does look pretty good. But animated mechs have a way nicer feel to it. Theres no deformation to 3d, which is what gives animated mechs such an awesome look.

Plus it just looks lazy. I do animations for 3d models myself, and once you've made the model, its pretty basic and simple to do the animations.

The reason is because traditionally animated 2D mecha is far more expensive.

With 3DCG you can get detailed mecha that stay on model and are very easy and cheap to animate so most studios now resort to it as a cost-cutting measure, not because they think people prefer it stylistically.

As long as it's done well, used mainly for Mecha/vehicles and blends well with the traditional animation I don't mind.

The new Berserk movie is an example of terrible 3DCG implementation.
