I don't care for any games in the entire genre. Soul Calibur V was ok, but the games are incredibly, awfully repetitive to the point of being boring within a few days.

But what is there to learn? more combos that can just be overpowered by some jackass just spamming an attack over and over again? The only depth to fighting games is the combo system, everything else is shallow as shit. Characters are awful, stories are awful, levels are awful. There's just no substance to fighting games for me. They feel as if they should just be a downloadable game or something. Not a full-priced $60 game.

I believe a game should deliver on what you are paying for. I am paying for a fighting game. the fighting I get from playing other people other than the stupid AI which gets boring as you said. Yes, outside of combos there is nothing very deep about a fighting game and half the time the story and the characters are bland and mediocre, but if I wanted story or character development i'd turn to RPG's or action. I spent 60 on a fighting game to get a solid fighting game and that's what I got. and btw if you're good enough you can beat spammers.

DoA 2,3,4
MvC 3
and some others that my friends would bring over to play but we'd end up just playing once. It's not the games individually I have a problem with, the whole genre is just bland as hell to me.

Every game is just the same mechanics over and over again, but at least most games add more twists and complexity and variety to it. Fighting games is literally just a fight between 2 characters (usually) over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over
