HI, my friend rode the AoT wave and is not into anime. He takes the wait HARD though and would like an anime like it to as filler until season 2. any idea?

Well if he's not into anime then you need to feed him the cream of the crop. Nothing is like AoT.

So you need to feed him: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, Gurren Lagann, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood,he has begun but hasn't got the fever yet (still in ep1)
Cowboy Bebop,i planned on making him see that
Gurren Lagann,is WAY too out there he is about story not screaming dubbers
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex...i doubt he will get it but i'll try.
He is very story oriented so the 'funny' bits of Brotherhood make him cringe.VERY japanese.too japanese but,i told him to keep going until at least ep6.
