Just what I remember from the chunk I saw on TV the other night.

Well, yeah...granted, there were plenty of plots holes and disjointedness throughout the movie for the benefit of the story, but I was willing to, for the most part, push that to the side because movie was actually pretty good in it's own right. I liked the writing that Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman did for the characters, mainly Kirk and Spock because I always liked the new cocky kid and the smart "You don't know what the hell you are doing" character kind of team up. Some are terrible but I felt it actually worked in this movie, even though I felt the main villain a bit wasted. And the direction J. J. Abrams took the movie making a little darker in tone and more character developed was a nice change in pace for the Star Trek lore. Were there some questionable choices the writing team made in some of the scenes? Sure, but that hardly stopped the movie from being enjoyable. Not that I'm saying you're saying that, of course.

Sorry if I took too long to respond.

Well lots of reasons. First of all, just know that I like all machines. Planes, Boats, Cars, Trains, anything with an engine, and like to know how they work. As for cars. When I was younger, my dad would take me to drag races and car shows. In the 80s, I watched Transformers and Knight Rider. When I got closer to getting my license I was already playing racing video games, and shortly after that the Fast and the Furious came out, and then Initial D came to the states and drifting became big. Then I bought my own muscle car and I learned how to work on cars. In 2006, everything changed though, I became completely fascinated with race driving and race cars. I played like ten racing simulators that year, I went to my first road race and next year I saw F1. I read books about racing. I took karting lessons. And to be honest, none of it really paid off yet. I have a 300hp go-kart, limited to 80mph and stuck in traffic every day. I think I just went from really excited to depressed.

But NEXT YEAR, I plan to evolve again. I'm going to start watching auto cross events. Maybe I'll get the courage and drive in it myself.
