Same here, I wasn't sure if they were bandits or not and by the time I worked it out the Giant was already dead.

I've killed a bunch of innocent Giants and Mammoths for looking at me the wrong way since then though.

Can you become a spirit trapped inside a suit of armor in the game? You could do that in Morrowind.

I had much more trouble with a couple of Vampires I ran into earlier, Giants are damage sponges and can one shot me but as long as I can keep away from them it's just a matter of time before I bring them down.

But those Vampires kept fucking me up, couldn't kill them quickly enough from a distance with my bow before they got right up in my grill and used some spell to steal my health.

Got them eventually though.
