"Spoilers" shouldn't ruin it for you. Story-heavy games are about the journey, not the destination.
A shame then that the journey is also severely stunted in comparison to Mass Effect 2.
Obviously a galactic war is going to make a bigger imprint on the universe.
How does that make the journey better?
As for the Reapers being everywhere and destroying everything...what did you expect? We knew this was going to happen from the beginning, and was the whole plot.
I don't really care about the justification, we all know that the bland terrain and copy-pasted interiors used in side missions for ME1 were not the result of aspirations to realism.
You didn't answer my question about how it makes the journey better at all.
And the Reaper invasion didn't need to be in full force from the beginning of ME3, but they wanted big action set pieces to win over the COD crowd, that's the reality of it.
TranClan67 wrote:ME1 was the best in terms overall. ME3 was more emotionally impacting only because of the journey you started from ME2. Let's face it, ME1 didn't have that much on the emotions in ME3.
Mordin...
I can't agree with this, ME1 had a lot going for it and showed a lot of potential, but also a lot of teething problems.
ME2 blew the first game out of the water in every area for me. ME3 just had to take the ball from ME2 and run with it, but it fumbled.
The result isn't a bad game, it still had some great moments, but it could and should have been so much better.

Why is the search feature on this forum so useless? It's been an hour and I still can't locate a certain post of mine.

Re: /g/eneral Chat Version Nyan, Operation: Dessert Storm
Yes I did. Galactic war = scale. Mass Effect = scale. Being limited to the myopic scope of one-to-one relations with specific characters doesn't help. Dealing with the politics of an entire galaxy in the face of war far better serves Mass Effect's aspirations of scale than obsessing over who you're going to have sex with toward the end of the game. No matter how many conversations you have with Garrus, Miranda, Tali, Kaidan, Jacob or anyone else who was on that ship, you'll never be able to explore the Mass Effect universe in the way that you said you wanted since running through those conversation trees doesn't come close to accomplishing that level of detail. It's traveling across the galaxy with some sort of purpose in mind for doing so that gets you there, not robotting through conversation options.TopgunUK wrote:Biokinetica wrote:Because that's what Mass Effect was about. Reality according to you. Sci Fi has been like that ever since the first science fiction films were produced. It certainly didn't start with Call-of-fucking-Duty. They have to create some sense of urgency so you don't get what happens in every Bethesda game:And the Reaper invasion didn't need to be in full force from the beginning of ME3, but they wanted big action set pieces to win over the COD crowd, that's the reality of it.

No you didn't, you just changed your answer to scale.
You said Mass Effect was always about Galactic War, it was not, it was about a galaxy which happened to be threatened with impending galactic war, a war which didn't break out until the third entry in a franchise can't be considered what it was about the whole time.
And now you say Galactic war = scale.
I say Galaxy = scale.
The war part does nothing to increase the scale of anything other than the stuff blowing up in the background, in fact it actively reduces the scale of the universe, entire unexplored but mentioned worlds which might have been used as settings are deleted with nothing more than some expositionary dialogue and a codex entry about how they fell.
And the character interactions/ world building has always been vastly more interesting than the action gameplay, If I wanted to sideline this stuff to make room for even more cover-based shooting with monster filled skyboxes I'd be playing Gears of War, not Mass Effect.
Look, we disagree, don't respond to this in an effort to keep it going, obviously I've made my mind up about the game, it's not gonna change, and you, (despite not having played the game) have decided that I'm wrong, fantastic.

I never decided anything about you and never said you were wrong about anything (except for the part about it being done to appease CoD players, but that was more of a tangent). Don't get bitter.TopgunUK wrote:
