It can be. It's an engaging game. It's time consuming and perhaps demands more out of you than any other online game. It's satisfying when done right.

EDIT: What exactly is the point of asking if a game is fun or not when you have experience with another game from the same genre? You know what you're dealing with on a base level. Dota's better.

The differences are quite a few and many of them are fairly subtle, if only because they're more easily understood as you're playing. If you're interested just pick up the game for a while and see for yourself.

It's got a decent tutorial plus you can play with bots just like in LoL, so for all it's worth, you can make up your mind about it before even having to interact with any people.
