Sad, by whom's standards, yours? We're naturally inhibited, fearful creatures. Alcohol releases us from those shackles, "boosting" interaction by revealing our true selves. It's the only time you're actually being true to anything at all; if you're attractive (personality-wise) to others while drunk, you know you've made it. In a sense, it's infinitely more real than your pretending and prancing around being "yourselves" when all you're doing is lying to yourselves and others.

I just think you and everyone else is more than capable of doing well socially without alcohol.

Looks like Noble plays life on easy...

In my eyes if you need alcohol to make friends you are way too insecure. Drinking like that makes you dependent on it to make friends. You will gain much more confidence in yourself by meeting and befriending people on your own without the need to consume copious amounts of alcohol.

Your being/personality is the culmination of how you act which is brought out by how your brain reacts to certain stimuli.

Being drunk just kinda temporarily cuts out the part that suggests that certain things might be a bad idea. It shows who you'd be if you didn't second-guess things... but second-guessing things is part of who we all are... and sometimes it leads us to perpetuate the meaningless social customs we're accustomed to, and sometimes it prevents us from doing things that are genuinely stupid.

If you want to be true to yourself, just figure out a way to overcome your fear of social awkwardness... using alcohol to do that just shows that you're afraid to use anything except an easy temporary fix to display aspects of the person you want to be.

Shit I met most of my sexual partners, best friends, and just friends completely sober. The problem with you, noble, is you understand how society looks to manipulate human beings which is partially true and just go along with it rather than look to find strength and confidence in your own ability. I understand to some extent we are social constructs, but there are definite and permanent measure that can be taken to combat that pressure that doesn't involve alcohol. Broaden your horizons dude.

People are actually afraid of admitting the truth (but don't acknowledge alcohol as doing as much).
It doesn't have the same popularity in society.
