Yeah, if this happens, this is how I think it will play out. She'll jump in the middle of the fight just as Ryuko is about to deliver the finishing blow.

I guess another kinda clue is that somehow her family made it onto the ship for some reason and then Gamagori stated tat she is the most stubborn and will always do as she plases, probably referring to "yeah, she'll jump infront of a swrd too if she wants

Granted we cant forget the wild card of the series, that being that Mako might turn out to be Ryuoko's sister too and that she was the failed experiment all along, and Ryuoko actually comes from the Life fiber home planet and was sent to earth with a mission to destroy the planet, then bonked her head and essentially ended up with Goku's backstory...
