It's way harder than school. You start out, you know NOTHING, and you're under pressure to get things done quickly. You also never stop learning, and google is your friend. I have my own desk. I've gone through 3 computers already. I dress nice every day, jeans on Friday. I was on min wage for a year, but now the big bucks are starting to roll in. I bought a sports car in the Summer so that's taken at least half of my attention all year. I thought I was getting fired for a while and nearly gave myself ulcers. That's what it's like. I'm happy.

I need to decide between trying to go to the local community college then push for the area's better game design school or just go for the full online 4 year degree

I'm not making six figures yet, but I'd say I'm very well off. I'm just grateful to get a job out of college.

gi bill will pay for it all. though if it's on campus, then it has to be within TN (probably one of the worst states to get a game design degree). though I wont get very much money for online courses

They never say how my performance is, but I was eavesdropping on them talking about one of my projects (from my desk, sensitive ears) and it drove me nuts. They fired someone else, and my solution is to listen to music on headphones 75% of the work day, ignore anything said about me, and just WORK FUCKING HARDER.

If I'd gone for strictly game design classes, I would have shot myself in the foot. I'd go general if I were you. Are you talking about graphic design or writing how games work(literary)?
