Re: Man Of Steel (BIG ASS SPOILER WARNING)
Just returned from seeing Man of Steel.
Zack Snyder nailed it. I might say it could be the best Superhero movie to date, better than the Nolan Batman's or even Avengers and Whedon. I'm not sure yet because I still have a bit of an adrenaline rush right now. The effects were the best I have ever seen in a movie because I didn't believe they were special effects or CGI. Just phenomenal and man...the FIGHTS. These weren't just fights, they were Superman fights.
There were some changes from the Superman lore we know, but the changes made sense and were minor, at least to me it was. This movie was creating its own Superman mythos and I love what I saw.
Even if you don't like some of the changes made, at the very least this was the superman movie we have all wanted for the past 50 years.
Just go in and enjoy the ride.

I didn't like the movie, and most of all the end was just wrong...
The action was pretty good. Overall the movie just seemed so not Superman at all.

Nothing I can do about a bad transfer from comic book to movie I guess. I only hope that this Superman much like the one before it is lost into obscurity because it was an awful depiction of what Superman should stand for.

Re: Man Of Steel (BIG ASS SPOILER WARNING)
Pretty much all of my Superman knowledge came from the original movies, the animated series and the Justice League series.
With the way they explained everything I was perfectly fine with all of the choices they made.
I've heard all the arguments with the movie about Superman doesn't do this or he would have done that. It just makes me think that we did not watch the same movie.
When I watched the movie I saw a young Kal-El who did not know the full extent of his powers, did not know what he wanted to do with them, did not know how to help humanity and just got thrown into the fire of Zod's arrival.
He had no training, no experience and had to pretty much stop Zod on the fly.
I get all the comic arguments about what Superman is supposed to be and Superman's rules and limits and saving everyone, etc. I get it.
The point I'm trying to say it that Kal-El/Clark isn't there yet, he is not the true Superman yet. I truly believe that is what the Director and Writers were trying to convey. He is growing into that. All the criticism they are getting for their vision is a bit too harsh, it is their vision for Superman, their take and direction. Just like every new writer for the comic adds their vision whether its for the main comic or its for large side stories like Kingdom Come. Each one is a different take.
In the old movies and most of the comics (I believe) he had the benefits of training for years in the fortress with Jor-El mastering his powers and how best to become the symbol for all.
He did not get that in this movie, not even close. He had to figure everything out on his own and on the fly during Zod's attack and he is still working on it by the end of the movie.
I'm sure this will be TLDR for most, and maybe I'm the only one on the planet who understood their vision for Superman and liked it. I'm fine with it.

She was a better villain than Zod in my opinion, lol.

The thing is... from watching the trailers, you should have known that they were going they're own route with Superman with a maybe a few similarities to some of the comics like they did with Batman. And as for Superman Wolf pretty much got it right (Yes, Wolf, I did read your post) :3
This was the VERY start of Superman and he has a lot of growing up to do. Though, I do kind of dig this Superman now. :p

Re: Man Of Steel (BIG ASS SPOILER WARNING)
I have to disagree on a few points.
First, his weakness is the atmosphere of ANY other planet, but earth rather than keeping it simply kryptonite. Then that brings a question how does he survive in space if their is no atmosphere at all? Can he survive? Does this mean that any planet or atmosphere he may travel to will make him lose his powers? Seems pretty stupid in my eyes.
Second, the battle scene between Kal and Zod. He practically leveled more of the city than he did saving it. In most if not all cases Superman usually diverts his battles outside of the city where thousands of people won't die.
Third, he broke one of largest and most intrinsic moral codes that Superman has. Many would argue that Superman's morality is an ability of his because it restrains his super human powers.
There is an acceptable amount of room to re-writing a superhero, and then there is too much where one loses the essence of the superhero altogether. It was just a real unrealistic telling of what Superman is and ultimately people are going to accept this as the one true Superman and lose out on who the real superman is. Its bullshit and its happened before. I mean even in the dark knight Batman REFUSED to kill anyone.
