It needs the 15kb file to complete it, without that it's an unplayable mess that those nice game companies are protecting us from.

If it's on disc it's most likely to be 'complete'. It's just unavailable to the buyer and gets activated after the person pays for that DLC.
Saints Row the Third for example ,had tons of DLC content in "disc" that came out legit after a couple of months , yet pirates already had the DLC content and were playing with it.

The reason why i brought this up is because i had a discussion with my teacher about it. Everyone moan and complain about it but they don't know how much it costs to send in patches and updates. It even costs a good bit for mobile games.

I see that alot of people hate it but if its something i gotta do to save time and money that i dont have then...

They make a bunch of content, lock a portion of it away from the player, charge them full price for the game, then charge them again for a file to unlock something that not only could have been included in the original release, but was included in the original release, only inaccessible.

It's like charging someone full price for a fridge-freezer with the freezer compartment padlocked then selling them the key separately.

That's the problem there. It does the exact opposite.

YOU have to wait time you don't have to for content that is ready and should be available. And YOU have to pay MORE money in order to gain access to locked off content.

YOU lose both time and money, THEY reap all of the benefits from this exchange.

I can definitely see where you're coming from with your argument. But the issue is that it's used for the sole purpose of making as much profit as possible by working around the system.
