Synopsis:
The story takes place in a near future where people's state of mind and tendency of thought are quantified and controlled. For crime control, people with a high "crime-mind index" are hunted by "Executers". However, there are cases where talented Executers have been influenced by their target criminals. To prevent such cases, Executers team up with healthy minded "Inspectors" who supervise the behavior of Executers. Tsunemori Akane is a 20-year-old rookie Inspector. The story begins when she meets an Executer named Kogami Shinya.

Behind the scenes from the full interview in Newtype between Koji Yamamoto (FujiTV, noitaminA producer) and Takeshi Wada (Production IG, currently runs Wit Studio and is producing Psycho-Pass and Robotics;Notes):

- The idea originally came up because Sony was remaking Spiderman. Yamamoto felt that Production IG also had strong properties which have been dormant for some time - Ghost in the Shell, and Patlabor. But instead of remaking them, he thought it would be good if they made something brand new in that same direction instead. The concept being “a cop series”.

- The project started coming together about 2 years ago. They decided who would be the producers and the chief director pretty early. It seems the chief director (we know its Motohiro now) was definitely something FujiTV wanted.

- What Yamamoto wanted for the show was something like Inception, but done in an anime form which can show off the Japanese animation industry’s ability to also create major scifi works like that. Inception is very popular, Ghost in the Shell is very popular, people overseas respect these works, etc. You get the picture.

- Yamamoto was also the one who had the idea to get Amano involved in the character designs. The reason for this is because he feels that her artwork has a more adult taste in them, and she’s also popular with both male and female demographics, so it would be a more gender neutral style which can appeal to older audiences as well.

- The story and science-fiction world setting is something which the chief producer and the script writer (Urobuchi!!) planned out together. Some of the details and ideas evolved along with Amano’s designs however. It seems that both the Dominator gun and the wrist bracelet computer they use to calculate Psycho-Pass measurements are things which developed from Amano’s preference for gadget designs.

- Shinya Kougami - even though he is an enforcement officer, has a high level of criminality potential as measured by the system they use. It seems his past is also tied to an unsolved bizarre murder case.

- Akane Tsunemori - fresh grad who enters the force as an executive officer because of her high aptitude scores.

- Nobuchika Ginoza - the other senior executive officer on the team, and he is described as a brilliant officer who keeps his emotions to himself, and is especially hard on Akane.

- Shuusei Kagar i- a loud mouth who likes making fun of people, and he spends all his spare time playing portable videogames.

- Tomomi Masaoka - a veteran on the force who’s like a father figure, and he’s the one who helps induct Akane into their field work.

- Yayoi Kunidzuka - a cool sort of character who like reading books, and she’s also the specialist who controls the robot drones for the team.

- Shion Karanomori - the sexy and glamorous sort of woman, and she’s in-charge of the medical well being of the team, as well as analyzing the criminality data of offenders.



Portable Psychology Diagnostic and Suppression System - Dominator

The Dominator is a special handgun carried by Executive and Enforcement officers on assignments. By aiming the gun at a suspect, its system can instantly calculate the level of criminality the subject possesses. When this value exceeds certain levels, the system then automatically selects the effectiveness of the weapon. If the level does not exceed fixed levels, the muzzle will not open.

Kinda intrested to see Psycho Pass, but I wish Production I.G was doing another season of Ghost in the Shell (just rewatched EVERYTHING GitS releated)

Psycho pass looks fantastic, loving the character design. But.. that story synopsis...

Minority report much? Still very interested in this. definitely gonna watch this when it comes out

Girls und panzer is a perfect example of whats wrong with anime these days... What a rediculous shitty ass idea. Its like they're trying to kill off anime.

first Upotte, now this shit.. Why can't we get any serious shows like a 3rd gig of GiTS, or anything in that direction. Why do we always have to get this rediculous loli shit :(

I miss the good ol days of enjoyable and serious anime... Seems like such a rarity now...

■The anime will cover the Balbadd Arc, and the first chapters of the manga will be readjusted, but the rest will be loyal to the original.
■On first episode we will see Aladdin and Alibaba’s encounter and how they become friends, while on the second we will know Jamil and Mor.
■They consulted the author for Alibaba’s past details, as they want to explore a little more the character and since will be a main arc’s important fact.
■There will be a new original character.

SO just read it for a better understand of it.

Its not just the loli character stuff thats annoying these days.. its just all these predictable high school life harem stories with their stupid plots and their stupid stories that are overtaking every season with more and more of the same crap. And while sure. Autumn isn't as bad, there have been seasons that were filled with these kinds of shows.

Its just sad to see that mostly all these shows recently are only focussing on character designs that wil later sell pretty well to the sad otaku masses in PVC form that allow you to undress them. The fanservice has gone mad, and right now anime seems more like a promotion tool to sell their skanky figures and merchandise.

I've been watching anime since the 90's and i still can't get enough of it. Except that... these days there isn't enough anime worth watching :<

The trailer pretty much implies that it will cover all the arcs.

Its a shame Initial D will only be 6 episodes, I hope those episodes will be atleast 50mins~ long. There is always hope.
