From what I understand, factions were getting trashed because you could do stuff that would normally break the rules like posting porn, sharing torrents, and all that. To avoid any potential lawsuits, the higher ups wanted to get rid of them. Plus, they weren't really getting moderated as much as they should have been.

Does this sound accurate? If so, then sure, that sounds like a pretty legitimate justification for getting rid of them.

When you say "without a hitch," do you mean that they have gone by without getting into legal trouble?

But how would you know whether or not they did? The people in charge wouldn't make it public to us.

New site is going to be interesting. Profile is shit now. Also you can see random user actions at the bottom bar which is where you log in.
