I despise rap, and I despise Japanese rap even more (it just sounds retarded hearing a Japanese person try to rap, especially when they add a bunch of Engrish). I won't elaborate on why I hate rap, I don't want to spark a flame war, but I will say it has nothing to do with race.

I can do that. I'm not closed minded enough to think that there's no good rap out there, though I'll admit that I've never gone looking for it. It's just that, like you said, everything I've heard people listen to on the radio is just so... well... stupid. Like, I can't believe an adult thought up those lyrics and not a 13 year old. And as far as instrumentals go, it's usually just the most simplest of drum beats (I've been playing drums for 12 years). From what I've heard, this sums up my current opinion of rap.

^ Yes, that's what rap should be! Intelligent lyrics, a good arrangement of instrumentals (they actually had acoustic drums! Also, I heard a flute in one - nice), and, dare I say, a bit of a melody. I actually wouldn't mind listening to rap like that. If only that's what was mainstream. I cannot describe my frustration with people that listen to mainstream rap and genuinely consider it good music. At least now if I ever get in a debate with someone over the topic, I can actually reference some good rap instead of sounding completely biased against rap.
