I've only completed one route of Tsukihime so far and Aoko didn't feature too heavily in that, should I presume that this should be played after Tsukihime's finished?

Also, kind of a bummer that it's unvoiced huh?

You don't need to have played Tsukihime before playing this. Aoko very briefly appears in Tsukihime, once at the beginning when Shiki received his glasses from her, and once at the end of Arcueid's route (if I remember correctly). Shiki only meets with Aoko twice in his life; when he's in the hospital as a boy, and when he's close to dying from the stress his eyes put on his body. Either way, this is a prequel to all that. This is when Aoko was just starting to learn magic when she was still in high school.

It is somewhat disappointing that this isn't voiced, however the visuals, music, and sound-effects do a great job of making up for that. You'll see once you get to the battle scene - it's seemed more immersive than some anime. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they release a voiced version for the PS3. Fate/Stay Night was unvoiced when it was first released for the PC, then it was voiced when it was later released for the PS2, then someone made a patch that ripped the voices from the PS2 disc and added them to the PC version. So hopefully they release a voiced PS3 version. Also, this is a kinetic novel (has no choices or branching story) and has no sexual content.

I was just asking in case she was more prominent in the other routes and this prequel might spoil stuff from Tsukihime or something.

I knew it was a prequel, but Fate/Zero spoils stuff that doesn't become apparent until Heaven's Feel in Fate/Stay Night so I thought the same might be true here.

How long is this demo would you say? Downloadan now.

Pretty damn cool.

Huge step up from previous Type Moon VNs in pretty much every area so far.

I'm glad it won't have tacked on H-scenes compromising the story and since I always use guides for VNs anyway I'm not bothered about the lack of choices.

I found myself very hyped for this all of a sudden and all giddy about the fact that it's coming in April, but then it dawned on me that it might be quite a while before a full english translation comes :/

Well, the entire demo was translated in a little over a month (it was released December 15th), and the translator actually said it was delayed at least a week because of all the time he spent with his family during Christmas. Also, it seems like the demo translation had an added level of difficulty that the complete game won't have (see quote). It seems like this translator is pretty dedicated to this project (and anything Type-Moon) so I think we'll get a fairly speedy translation (though it will still be months since I'm sure the full VN will be quite long).

The translation process had an unexpected level difficulty. As I’m sure most of you have learned by now, the demo is not actually one contiguous portion of the story, but a bunch of chapters in random points in the story, which may or may not even be in order of chronology. A lot of characters were referring to previous events that had already taken place (which means I have no context with which to refer to), and there were a few places here and there that I suspect were trying to explain context, but were obviously crowbarred in there to let the demo reader not totally be in the dark, but in practice ended up being a completely awkward digressionary flashback (the scene with Sōjūrō remembering the classroom lecture, as well as the scene where Sōjūrō meets with Kumari comes to mind). Oh well, pretty sure it’ll not be there in the actual game come April anyway.

As for scenes where I had to mostly guess context, these were few and far between, but enough for me to say the caveat that some of the phrasing of these scenes will obviously change once the actual game shows up and I have a complete story to work with.

So the full game was released about a week ago. I read somewhere that it's not very long, only about 9-12 hours, which is kind of disappointing. But I guess that also means we'll get a faster translation.

If you want to buy it, you can get the limited edition first printing which comes with an exclusive 100-page book full of character profiles (power levels included ), artwork, and an extra short story - all in a hefty collector's box for only $115 here.
