ooohhhh, okay, its making a little more sense now...yuu is the one who started it all, and yuu is apparently dead somehow, but she still lives on in the alternate reality, so the counselor chick thought she could keep her alive by making other students go to that place with their sorrow.

interesting anime...

I've been watching this. It's kind of stupid and pretentious, but I'm loving it to death. Probably because all the girls are so gay.

basically those girls are a specific grief, when they are killed the content of that grief (love for yomi, feelings for guy etc.) are annihilated completely.
so to speak the bond is destroyed without trace.
