HoN is pretty alright, it's issue is that it was made as an updated dota long before dota 2 was ever a thing so at this point it's more dota 1.5 than anything else

Except for Dota. League's pretty fun, too. Smite's coming up very strong and it's a breath of fresh air. Dawngate unfortunately got cancelled, but it had a lot of promise. Bloodline Champions and Awesomenauts are smaller names but they have their own unique flavour. Infinite Crisis and Heroes of the Storm give fans of their respective universes the opportunity to play as their favourite characters, which is pretty great. MOBAs are expanding in all sorts of interesting and exciting ways, each trying to do things just a tad bit differently. But you already knew that all of that, given your experience with them.

Oh, and HoN is a sub-par carbon-copy of Dota, which is pretty shameful.

Well it's intention was to be a carbon copy. DotA was pretty old at that point and people wanted an updated version separate from WC3 and that's what HoN was. The issue it had was that just a few months after it released Valve announced DOTA 2 so HoN became pointless.

I know as much, but what really grinds my gears about it is that there's very little sense of development from that point onward. I played HoN for a while around that time, stopped, then tried it again recently. My memory of it might not be entirely accurate, admittedly, but it felt like nothing had changed in any significant way. You figure they'd throw their hands up and go, "fuck it", this is our game now, we'll do whatever we please. There's enough diversity nowadays that HoN does indeed feel pointless.

Not really. I don't care to play it and I know for sure it doesn't require more skill. They're all pretty much the same shit. lol.
Besides League is all I have time to play, since I started it first I avoid playing another game along with it since time doesn't permit. I'm sure if I had started dota before league I'd be saying the same for dota.
That's pretty much how it is for me. I don't need to say one is better than the other when they're pretty much all the same to begin with.
Though I will say that League has the best pronz Asmile
