If you're going for teh theme at least use all the Paint skills at your disposal to make it gradient and slicker.

Any darker and it might as well be black again.

Noble, why would you use a gradient on a static image that doesn't move? It would just make the bottom half of the screen black at all times.

To make it look the tiniest bit vibrant, opposed to the bland, flat style you've chosen. Doesn't need to be light-dark from top to bottom or vice-versa, you can do everything in between.
