If it kinda pointless in comparison to Steam? Yeah, but competition isn't a bad thing.

Let me correct myself, there are probably good people at EA who put in an honest days work for a paycheck and I have nothing against them.

I have a problem with whoever is in charge of every single action the company itself has made, it's wrong to hate an entire company and I should correct myself for somewhat sounding that way.

In this case it really is.

Origin barely even qualifies as competition so rather than challenging Valve to improve Steam they just hold some exclusives over Steam users' heads and inconvenience them.

Origin is pretty bad. Battlefield 3 runs through a webpage which forces one to leave the webpage open while playing the game. The friend system is terrible I sent a friend invite to my friend who got it an hour later. On top of that all they offer is EA games, that's not competition at all. Origin is just another attempt by EA to make more money that's it.

Of course I don't hate each individual working at EA. I just hate the decision making of the company because even if one man was deciding everything in the company, as long as it is under the name of EA or any company for that matter the company becomes liable for the mistakes.
