[Movie] Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below - Shinkai Makoto
Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below
Status: Released on Blu-ray
Producers: CoMix Wave
Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance
Synopsis: Asuna lost her father and lives a lonely life listening to mysterious music coming from her father's crystal radio. One day she sets out for a journey to see a boy again. Through the adventure, she experiences a parting and finds the cruelty and the beauty of the world.
Blu-ray rips are out, only raws so far but english subs are included on the blu-ray so it shouldn't be much longer.
If nothing else, it should make for good scenery porn.

At least it's not about how bad long distance relationships are (based on the synopsis anyways).

Wait, isn't that exactly what another of these types of movies is about? Or was that the other guy?Dolorous- wrote:At least it's not about how bad long distance relationships are (based on the synopsis anyways).

Shinkai's other projects (Voices from a Distant Star and 5 Centimeters per Second) use that as a major theme. I haven't seen Place Promised in our Early Days, so I'm not sure on that one.

Re: [Movie] Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below - Shinkai Makoto
good movie, reminded me of a miyazaki movie and 5cm per second put together
im still trying to figure out what timeline its in, cause the teacher
in any case i thought it was good, quite a lot of character development, the setting was interesting, art is superb if you liked 5cm per second art style, back story delves in ancient japanese and i think sumerian mythos so i thought that was interesting as well, there is action in this so its not just romance/drama like in 5cm per second, actually out of all the guy's work this has the most action in it so its not boring, so if youre gung ho for pure action with no drama, this aint for you.....over all ill give it 8.5cm/10
i dont think place promised in our early days used it, its been a while since i seen it, but the place promised in our early days had much deeper story line than the other movies, theres romance in it, but its more like one of those "i have to fight for her love" type deals..... minus the fighting......(aka an event has to occur before the love is realized) theres a bit of action but its not the main theme of the movie.....id have to rewatch it since i dont remember
im still trying to figure out what timeline its in, cause the teacher
- Spoiler:
- was in a war supposedly 10 years ago, but it looks like world war II, yet theres an AH-1 cobra attack helicopter in the present timeline, also it says that hitler, stalin, napolean tried to invade agartha as well so its definitely in this universe

Ah, nice to hear. It's been sitting in my hard drive for years, but his other films felt rather one-note, so I've kept putting off watching it.

Looks good. Another anime movie to add to my list. It's getting bigger I'm still missing some Studio Ghibli Movies.

I'm really not seeing any benefit to this one. Would rather continue other serials airing now that have time to flesh out what they're trying to say. Then again, Miyazaki didn't seem to have much trouble there. whatever floats your boat, ive stopped trying to convince people, because quite frankly its a waste of energy trying to persuade people, what matters is i thought it was a nice movie, that is all

Don't be so fatalistic. The conversation is a reward in itself. Besides, nobody thought you were trying to convince anyone. :T
