I mean... clothes only have a few important aspects, really... durability, comfort, and style. The rate at which quality of any of those aspects drops of a whole fuckton when price goes up... less so for "style", but it still drops off, and all you really get is something that costs an extra hundred dollars just so that you can potentially impress other people who think that throwing money away makes you better.
If a single article of clothing (except maybe a pair of shoes... or a coat) costs more than 40 dollars, you're probably spending too much. (And it doesn't fucking matter that something was marked down from $500 to $200 or whatever, it's still way overpriced.)

I tried to tell her this yesterday, it's pointless. She's beyond helping. Maybe one day she'll mature up and realize how stupid expensive clothes are.

I've had the same ~6 pair of generic Tommy Hilfiger Jeans since Highschool.
AND I walked everywhere in them.
AND what damage they've sustained was from me treading on them (they were a bit long), or diving on astroturf or asphalt.
AND I'm older than you, so I've had them longer.

Though... checking internet... apparently they're more expensive than I thought. But they aren't like $150.

i usually get rid of my jeans because they get messed up because of the weather here.

Well... it's not so simple as "Expensive clothes are stupid" (I'm not assuming you're making this blanket statement, I just feel like making a point related to what you specifically said)

I mean, some clothes are unique, and highly useful, and don't really have adequate replacements... and don't lead to buying several.
Like you can have a really awesome and really versatile coat that you wear every day when it's cold and/or raining, and if it's a few hundred dollars, maybe it's worth it because you'll get a lot of mileage out of it, you'll be well off for having it, and you won't have to make repeat purchases.

But for jeans... super expensive jeans aren't really so much better than above-average jeans.
Plus, it's not like you'll wear the same pair every day, so you won't get a lot of mileage from them... much cheaper jeans aren't much less stylish...
The problem is that they're not tangibly better than other options. You're spending gobs of money on the mere concept of value.

Just because Pai's a hypocrite doesn't mean that you're making the right decision.

Plus, Pai's figures have an attribute that designer clothing doesn't... one that makes them slightly more justifiable.
They don't have any alternates.
Your options with figures are having figures or having nothing.
You can have something that practically fulfills all the attributes of designer clothes without actually being designer clothes. They're called regular clothes.
