Stereotypes and generalizations, like everything else, have a saturation point where they get annoying when it reaches a threshold. People aren't wrong to think the way that they think in a way like this but only in situations where it's called for.

I just feel like people's anger is entirely misdierected when they are calling out people's artwork like this. They should be mad at beauty companies and plastic surgeons since they are the ones who have a monetary stake in "idealizing women".
Now a real debate is how games with art that has women with unrealistic proportions make the outside community see games in general. People saying "this just makes the game industry look like it's just full of horny teenage nerds" is a hard topic to approach.

There's a place where arguments like these can have meaning but that place wasn't.

And this is my biggest problem with it. Video games, despite being by many art, still don't treat it as one. Art shouldn't have to conform to the "needs" of society and what they want. If a sexualised representation of a women is to be allowed and even glorified in an art museum, why can't they be in video games. It's flat out disrespectful to the artists and their art style. This mostly came apparent to me during the fiasco over the Sorceress in Dragon's Crown. Vanillaware artists have drawn females that way for over ten years and no one seemed to be bothered; on the contrary, everyone loved it because instead of trying to cherry pick the "sexuality" out of his designs, they were clamouring his technique.

This brings me back to the Feminist Frequency bullshit. I get what Anita is trying to do and I respect the cause, however, she's going about it the wrong way and her latest video is the nail in the coffin for me. She is unable to argue any of her points convincingly. Instead of picking out the biggest culprits of "violence against women" in video games and analysing the situation and explaining WHY she believes that game is a perpetrator of the trope she was analysing (Women in Refrigerators), she instead took the liberty of spoiling as many games as possible and putting on a 10th grade quality slideshow depicting various acts of violence (without analysing any context whatsoever) against women pointing them out as examples.

It's lazy and flat-out insulting to anyone who backed her cause. If you're going to take that long to release a video, you better have some in-depth analysis of what you're accusing and showing on your videos. She knows her tropes, she knows her history but it's coming off as she's just skimming through the games and not going through the trouble of analysing the situations and why those scenes take place.

Not to mention her channel is FEMINIST frequency, thus you can only expect a one-sided approach to these issues with little truth behind most of it. Now if a prominent figurehead of gaming media like Adam Sessler or Cliffy B did the same "in-depth" analysis of the subject and had a kickstarter for it, it would be far different. But since she's a pretty chick and knows how to blow things out of proportions, she gets the attention. Talk about vocal minority.
