I think that it'd be cool if women in general were drawn with more clothing (and less implausibly large boobs), but I'm not super peeved by these images.NinjagoonAF wrote:http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/may/29/classic-fighting-game-characters-re-imagined-females/#comments
oh gawd the comments. It seems its illegal to enjoy some rule 63 now lol.
And I think it's kinda funny how all the people in the comments are getting bothered by how scantily clad the characters are... when they're actually wearing the exact same clothes as their non-rule63 counterparts.
(They're trying to be vaguely helpful to the non-sexualization of women while not realizing that they're adhering to the sexualization of female breasts)

Since when are boobs equivalent to sexualization and chauvinism? Yes they are bigger than real women's boobs but they AREN'T REAL PEOPLE. Also an artist shouldn't have to consider "if I draw her the way I want to, people will be mad about it"Spectral Spider wrote:I think that it'd be cool if women in general were drawn with more clothing (and less implausibly large boobs), but I'm not super peeved by these images.NinjagoonAF wrote:http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/may/29/classic-fighting-game-characters-re-imagined-females/#comments

You of all people should know that people enjoy bigger boobs for the sake of sexual pleasure.Pai wrote:Since when are boobs equivalent to sexualization and chauvinism? And I know they aren't real people.
The most I an say is that they are a manifestation of a ridiculous ideal for women, other aspects of which can cause actual problems. I'm mostly against the trend of huge boobs because it perpetuates a belief that bigger boobs are better, which means I can't look at smaller boobs as much as I could, and larger boobs become the norm which might lead girls to feeling insecure, and guys feeling like they're missing out on their fantasy... it'd be subtle, definitely, but I think it'd be better if the typical depiction of boobs more closely matched actual boob size.
And nobody should really have to consider others getting pointlessly mad about things that don't negatively impact anyone... but that's the way the world kinda works.

Women shouldn't be looking at fictional characters and thinking that they are "ideal" and neither should men. If you can tell the difference between 2d and 3d then there shouldn't be any crossover like "because I see these fictional, exaggerated fighting game characters with huge boobs, all real women I'd ever want to meet should have them too". You probably have a mental disorder if you think that. This is simply art. They aren't drawing the boobs big because they'll profit from it or anything, they draw them like that because they are exaggerated characters with exaggerated features in every aspect. the men in fighting games are always exaggeratedly over muscular and fit beyond normal human possibility and yet I see no fuss over it.Spectral Spider wrote:

Maybe if every actress in Hollywood had huge bimbo-sized fake tits and they all modeled as that it what women should ideally be, then yes, such an idea would make sense.

I don't dislike fake breasts because they're not real...Cobalt wrote:

I dislike that we even have fake breasts because it shows that women feel sufficiently pressured by society (in a way that doesn't even accurately represent what everyone wants) to look a specific way that they're willing to undergo repetitive expensive surgery that numbs the pleasure of secondary sexual organs.
We have an entire expensive, unnecessary, damaging industry built around a inaccurate representation of what defines women. Shit's terribly whack.

Of course they shouldn't, but the fact that we can see 2d women, and masturbate to them means that in some way , we identify them as women... it might be less powerful than when we see actual women, but I'd wager it's still there.Pai wrote:Women shouldn't be looking at fictional characters and thinking that they are "ideal" and neither should men. Maybe if every actress in Hollywood had huge bimbo-sized fake tits and they all modeled as that it what women should ideally be, then yes, such an idea would make sense.
And for the most part, nobody actually actively sees some ridiculously built character and thinks they want to be like them, views on what is ideal kinda seeps into people's minds. (Which is why I believe white people are perceived as the standard of beauty... just because everyone's perceptions are saturated with white wimmenz)
And I'm not necessarily against drawing women with huge boobs... I just think that each case might vaguely perpetuate an idea of what is a woman's ideal appearance... and I don't want to tell people what they can and can't draw, but in an ideal world, making boobs ridiculously big wouldn't be as much of the norm. Big boob drawings aren't the problem... people being less tolerant of actual normal boob sizes is the problem, and an oversaturation of massive boob pictures is a symptom of that problem.
And actually, I've heard complaints about excessively large men in media creating a damaging ideal for men... it's just discussed less. And that's potentially bullshit because it might be just as important of an issue... though I'd hope you'd respond not by vilifying those who don't give it the attention it deserves, but instead by acknowledging that both things are problems, neither of which are trivial, and maybe focusing on the one you care about more.

@DT:
People can't handle that an artist draws women that they think look attractive because it's sexist and they should be drawn with smaller boobs so women feel better about themselves. Because apparently women feel pressured by "society" to look like these girls. I think it's sexist to think women are so jealous and self-conscious

now you're idealizing the world. men have ALWAYS been attracted to larger breasts, it's a function of evolution. So it's extremely natural that when artists draw fictional women, that they would be "idealized" with larger boobs because they are what is normally what's attractive to men. so let's say some chick sees these idealized women and thinks I want to like like that. As long as she doesn't have mental issues, she'll probably try to eat healthier and maybe even work out in order to slim her waistline and look more "ideal". unless she get's a boob job, there's not much she can do about her boobs so she should just accept that some parts of her body can't meet these fictional characters because they are FICTIONAL.
a guy who applies 2d fictional ideals to real life even on a subconscious level probably has mental issues, or never goes outside and sees real women this limits his exposure to reality and how to set realistic expectations for real things versus fictional. Also I believe that exposure to large breasts as "ideal" doesn't truly altermen's tastes in women. If I saw flat chested fighting game girls all the time I doubt my taste in real women would alter to women with smaller breasts.
Re: /g/eneral Chat: Entertainment and content, Edition
Video game characters rule 63'd in an anime-ish style. Do you even realise how restricted this issue is? No one else from the "outside world" would know what the fuck we're talking about if we brought it up.

I dunno, people are mad at artists for drawing what they want to draw, even though the artists never attempt or even hint at saying "this is what real women should be" and people shouldn't think of it that way. People shouldn't be using fictional characters as role models anyways.DeepThroat wrote:so basically girls need role models...why
