I think marriage is really just a tool, and it depends on how you use it...

And... a lot of people are stupid, and are forced to think that Marriage is like the goal of everything ever, so they don't realize keeping a relationship together isn't about just getting hitched, it's about caring and respecting your partner (and being lucky enough to not randomly drift apart).

A good relationship is a good relationship, and so long as the people involved aren't stupid/crazy being married doesn't really change that.

Though that kinda means that marriage isn't really necessary... which it isn't... but it's still kinda nice to think about. Personally, I really like the idea, as silly and pointless as it is.

I knew a couple that was together for 4 years before getting married.
1 year after getting hitched they hate each other. Something fundamental changes when people get married.

You're going to put a whole year of events on marriage? Anything can be at play, marriage being the last. Sure enough, it does change things in a fundamental way, because the previously independent individuals are supposed to act as a unit, under the same name, with whole new responsibilities and obligations. They could have hated each other just as well had they not gotten married, who's to say.

I think too much pressure is put on people to work as a unified front in marriage. When people are forced to provide additional compromise to shit, it strains relationships.
If you're married, you shouldn't start pressuring or feeling pressured to do things you probably wouldn't before.
