Yeah, aside from a few voices like Iri and Rin who sound abysmal it seems like an above average dub, but it still sounds wrong, and as Nobel mentioned when I linked him the trailer, it sounds so much cheesier in English.

I feel like if we knew Japanese, maybe we would feel that it would sound as cheesy as it would when spoken in English. But since we just objectively read and absorb the subtitles without caring for what the Jap. VAs are vocally articulating(at least that's what I do), we would think that it doesn't sound cheesy/weird. it's all mental in da domepiece

I'm sure that's a factor, but I'm not really all that interested in the cause, it doesn't change the fact that it sounds cheesier in English to me.

And I don't share your attitude to watching in Japanese, I care about how and what the Jap VAs vocally articulate (I thought the voice acting in F/Z was a pretty big highlight, almost all of the new character VAs fit their roles so well I can't feel okay with them being replaced, and plenty of them are returning characters from the VN where their voices are well established in my head).

And whenever conversation isn't too technical or specific I find myself perfectly able to follow sections of shows without needing the subtitles at all at this point.
