Summary:
It is the end of June 2019. A device called the PhoneDroid, more commonly called the PokeCom, has gained wide-spread acceptance.
On the island of Tanegashima, Central Tanegashima High School's Robot Research Club is on the verge of disbandment. Yashio Kaito shows absolutely no interest in the club despite the situation and being one of the club's only 2 members. He is fully absorbed in developing a robot fighting game. His attitude causes friction with Akiho, the other member.
Senomiya Akiho is the reckless Club President. She is determined to save the club by completing construction of a giant robot.
One day, whilst Kaito was in a park, working on his computer game as usual, he hears a girl's voice and discovers the A.R. annotation of the Kimijima Report. It is an allegation of a plot by one Kimijima Kou's with world-wide implications.

I want that costume app for my phone.
While the robot is kind of similar to Hero Man in appearance, this isn't going to be anything like it. The setting and characters have no similarities, plus they won't be fighting aliens. It's set in the same universe as ChäoS;HEAd and Steins;Gate, and apparently, like its predecessors, the story gets very dark towards the end (according to those that read the VN).

I'm not sure how credible this post is, but this is what someone on MAL said:

I kind of doubt it will end up being confusing. While S;G did make some references to C;H, it wasn't confusing if you didn't get the reference. I think R;N will be the same where it might reference some of the research in C;H but still explain everything for those that haven't seen it. Plus, the anime adaption of C;H was complete shit since it's only 12 episodes and thus very rushed.If your not going to see Chaos;Head you should at least read up on it or some things might be confusing at the end of Robotics;Notes since some of the research that the villain is doing is connected to C;H.

^ No, ignore Unknown (you probably would have anyway) and read my previous post. The series are so loosely connected that you don't need to watch one before watching another. The only connections they have is that they take place in the same world and one series might briefly reference something from a previous series.

I think the share the same simularity Outlaw star did with Angel Links. Same universe, different story. But still i am digging it allot, Steins;Gate was amazing, and this so far is pretty entertaining. I like the characters, and the story set so far is pretty cool.

that divergence number...snap. Not gonna lie, I've been somewhat getting tired of the "high-energy" type of characters, but Akiho kept it fresh lol. I like her spunk.

Alright, a new member gets blackmailed into the club! And I think Kaito was suffering from more than just exhaustion during that final match. Pretty decent episode.
Also, does anyone remember the name of the creator of Kill Ballad?

It's finally finally picking up. Akiho's big sis seemed pretty cool when she was still in high school, and it seemed like she had a decent relationship with her. I wonder what happened that caused them to drift.

I was at the edge of my seat as Kaito was trying to search for that girl. Her inaudible voice was freaking me out a bit. I almost squealed when he saw her figure for a second before it disappeared in that room lol.
