But everything that happened to him after that wasn't because of some tragic unavoidable circumstance, it was because his stuck-up attitude. His aunt, who he was living with, in no way treated him harshly or unreasonably. However, being the stuck-up, selfish brat that he is, he turned down her good will (along with shelter and 3 meals a day) and moved out with his little sister to where? A fucking cave. And when they started starving, he didn't do the responsible thing and go ask for some food from his aunt (which I'm sure she would have provided him with). And when his little sister started dying, he didn't bring her to his aunt or a doctor. No, because he can do everything by himself, right? He doesn't need anyone's help, right? Seriously. I'm supposed to feel sorry for this brat? I don't understand when people say, "Oh, this movie shows the tragedies of war." No. It shows the tragedy of an irresponsible, self-centered brat. It also doesn't help that his little sister is annoying as hell.

u know, 90% of the response i got from that movie was that it was sad as hell.
A friend i know who doesn't watch squat of anime cried because of it.
Time to see what the hubub is about if it makes think differently than the majority :3c

I was gonna say, people either feel sad or they react like FA did.
I baww'd when I watched it the first time, I just watched some of it and it automatically activates my tear ducts even now.
Also I think the movie is a victim of its own hype at this point, I hadn't heard anything about it when I first saw it, I'm pretty sure I saw it just before Princess Mononoke which would make it the Animu that got me into Animu.
Came on TV, and I missed the first few minutes which kind of spoil the ending, which increased the effect later on.
