also for some reason, there is no difficulty setting.

i can usually get through DoA storylines by mashing buttons, except on the final fight.

Yeah there isn't one for story mode, that's something you'll have to suck up.
They changed the game mechanics from the earlier games so that certain attacks can stun you so matches weren't just an endless counterfest. You have to make sure you time yourself right to counter before those kind of attacks hit.

Just stick to blocking until you can get the timing right or you'll end up like me repeatedly trying to counter during an entire fight only to end up getting punched in the face over and over.

also trying to fulfill the bonus tasks are kinda hard because i keep getting kicked in the face while trying to do the moves so i just end up saying 'fuck the optional tasks' and just try to kill them.
