New The Wolverine Poster

This new movie poster is definitely a lot better than the last one.

This story will be based off the classic Chris Claremont and Frank Miller graphic novel “Wolverine”. Wolverine travels to Japan to find his lost love Mariko who just so happens to be the daughter of the leader of The Hand. Wolverine will have to fight a lot of ninjas, as well as a few mutants like the Silver Samurai if he ever wants to see his girl again.

The Wolverine The_Wolverine_new_poster

The Wolverine will be released in movie theaters July 26, 2013

The Wolverine Had Only One Mutant In Early Drafts

One of the biggest problems with Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand was that it tried to do too much with too many mutants. Somehow the filmmakers got it into their heads that the only thing people want out of an X-Men movie are cool mutant abilities, and the rest of the movie suffered as a result. So it's strange to think that The Wolverine was almost the complete opposite of that.

Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote the first draft of the new superhero movie before it was rewritten by Mark Bomback, has told ScreenRant that in his version of the movie Wolverine was the only mutant in the entire script. "The truth of the matter is that Wolverine I consider to be one of my favorite scripts that I’ve ever written," the filmmaker said. "I really held it near and dear to my heart, and I was sorry that circumstances worked out that I couldn’t be there and be involved in that movie. I’m almost afraid to see what it’s evolved into, because that’s the nature of the process."

While it's unclear just how much the project changed after McQuarrie was replaced, apparently his script was real-world based but also had a touch of his personal flavor, saying that it was recognizable as being from the writer of The Usual Suspects and The Way of the Gun - and apparently there was even a Sergio Leone aspect to it. Said the writer, "There was a real romance to it, there was real humor to it, and a very straightforward sort of plain-faced brutality to it. I’m hoping they preserve that."

Obviously things have changed since McQuarrie left, as The Wolverine will feature the mutant known as the Silver Samurai (played by Will Yun Lee), but it will be interesting to see how much the project has changed. McQuarrie was working on the film back when Darren Aronofsky was set to direct, so with James Mangold at the helm it could be a different movie entirely. We'll just have to wait until July 26, 2013 to find out.

Unlikely. Fox has a tight grip on the X-Men franchise. With the amount of money it's made them in the past thus far, Disney/Marvel would have a better change of getting Spider-Man and Sony is more of less the same.

Also, there will be a trailer released on the 27th, but on the day before, they will release a teaser for that trailer.

Fox's contracts on all Marvel properties are supposed to end in like 2015 or something. Thats why they are planning on making Galactus a villain in Avengers 3. Its only a matter of time before Marvel gets their property back.

The state of their contract are not certain, but they will do anything to keep one of the more profitable of the proprieties. Plus, with them planing on having an X-Men/Fantastic Four movie and expanding the universe from there, no way in hell they are going to let Disney take them.

:p

Perhaps he wants to be mortal because he doesn't want to live with the fact he had to kill Jean Grey in X-3.

I never read the comic it's based off of, so I don't know where this is headed. I also heard that it's fairly different from the comics, so there's a lot nobody knows at this point.
