ok so pretty much new, that sucks. They only things i can think of is that the HD might of been one of those HD that die really quickly, or you had an electrical surge and that could have damaged your HD. But i would defiantly take it to another computer tech place and have them look at it.

or maybe it was since my suite mate has knocked out our power 3x in a week.
i hope they can save my documents, i have a term paper on my computer.

That could be it....I think you may be able to get your data off the computer (big maybe) but you need to go to someone who know what he or she is doing .

Essentially you need to take the HD out of the laptop
Hook it up to a SATA adapter and then copy your files over and hope they are not corrupted.
Oh and i strongly recommend that you get a Surge protector that has a battery back-up so that your system will last longer.
