Is South Park in the same position as Family Guy?

Post by Killaman16 on Wed Nov 16, 2011 8:15 am

I've always enjoyed watching South Park with all the crazy ass antics Stan and the gang get into but nowadays with these new episodes I've been more disappointed with each entry that I feel like this show is losing its steam like Family Guy has. Does anyone else feel the same or something similar?

Family Guy was never really too good. I think it mostly just appealed to kids at the time, due to its very reference dependent humor. It has just become even worse now.

South Park I haven't watched in a while. I felt like there were starting to be a lot more unfunny episodes. I just stopped watching after the Gay fish episode. It was the worst episode I had seen so far.

I'd say it's probably running out of steam, but apparently people felt that way before the movie was release but yet here it is.

I've thought some of the recent episodes were okay but the last few only got a few smirks at best.

Never cared for FG, and I don't believe South Park has run out of steam.

South Park hasn't dropped in quality, the audience has just become more critical.

Yeah te gay fish episode did it for me too. Then the constant repeating of that joke by everyone around me really got on my nerves

I think beyond the gay fish episode the are some better ones. But yeah its usually 2 bad ones, 10 normal ok ones and 1 or 2 great ones, if we are lucky.

I think South Park is at the point to where Trey and Matt will just do whatever they want till they get tired of it. Some of the new episodes are hilarious though.

I think the humor of South Park has become accepted as a new norm. There was a time when you'd see nothing but criticism and controversy. Family Guy caught on a time when people knew what to expect and now the writers have to resort to being edgy to please the fans.

It has become a little boring, but i still watch it. I stopped watching family guy last year or the year before that. South park changed very much, i still miss the south park related episodes and old characters like mr hat, chef (i know he's dead), the fetus-on-her-face nurse, and those wonderful characters.

Episodes 200-201 were great, and i do like the new episodes, but i would like them to return to the old style, or at least release one or two episodes with that feeling.

I stopped watching somewhere around the seventh season.

Though I wonder, did South Park/Family Guy's material deteriorate or has its audience simply grown up?

Family Guy has changed it's tone, I think. I actually watched the new episode that aired last night and it was...different. I mean, it was the same raunchy comedy at times, but it almost seems more focus on the family this time around, I dunno. It could have this one episode, though because I don't watch it that often.

Doesn'tfeel like the same show it was 3 years ago, which I kind of prefer, really.

South Park hasn't really changed for the most part, though, lol.
