Deadliest Warrior [Video Game Edition] Ep.1 Empty Deadliest Warrior [Video Game Edition] Ep.1

Post by NinjagoonAF Mon Nov 05, 2012 7:29 am

Welcome to Deadliest Warrior: Video Game Edition. I did something like this on Facebook a year or so ago and it was a big hit so i thought i might bring it over here for your entertainment. This is how it works: I give you 2 combatants from video games. I will list their weapons (3-4 max), armor, powers, etc. You vote and give your reasoning on why you think they will win. The poll will last until the next episode (which will always be on a sunday) and the winner of the previous episode will be declared on the next episode. And now its time to meet the first combatants...

Kratos, The Ghost of Sparta

Deadliest Warrior [Video Game Edition] Ep.1 1525102-kratos_rendering_concept

Weapons:

Short Range: Nemean Cestus
It is a pair of large metal gauntlets, each forged to resemble a snarling lion's head, that greatly increases the strength of its wielder when worn.

Mid-Range: Blades of Exile
Kratos's main weapon. These blades grant Kratos the magic power, Army of Sparta, as well as the ability to grapple enemies.

Long Range: Bow of Apollo
A bow of fire that was owned by Apollo.

Special Weapon: Blade of Olympus
It is a large sword with a bluish light in its blade. It was created by Zeus, forged of the Heavens and the Earth during the Great War to banish the Titans to Tartarus and end the war once and for all.

Armor:

Golden Fleece
Has the power to deflect approaching weapons and thrust them back to those who deliver them.

X-Factor:

Kratos is very tenacious and battle hardened.

VERSUS...

Dante, The Son of Sparda

Long Range: Ebony & Ivory
A pair of black and white trademark handguns customized by Dante.

Special Weapon: Sword of Sparda
The legendary sword of the Dark Knight Sparda, containing the bulk of his devilish powers.

Armor:
None

Deadliest Warrior [Video Game Edition] Ep.1 Empty Re: Deadliest Warrior [Video Game Edition] Ep.1

my friend wrote about this exact subject:

Dante vs Kratos... Devil May Cry vs God of War. The younger son of Sparda versus another illegitimate Zeus-ling. This one’s especially popular on youtube. Been going on for a few years now. I’ve stood by Dante all the way, and you’re probably going to understand why by the end of this.

Background: Dante’s father, the demon god Sparda, was among the Underworld’s greatest generals before he inexplicably awoke to justice, bringing the Hell’s entire legion to its knees and casting down their leader, Mundus, for the next 2,000 years. Dante himself continued this legacy as a demon hunter and paranormal investigator extraordinaire. He put Mundus down a second time, later venturing back into Hell to kill Mundus, halted Abigail – a Mundus-level demon hellbent (excuse the pun) on conquering both Hell and Earth – in her tracks (with a bullet, that is), demolished two mighty demons the young Nero could not (Echidna and Berial, the new ruler of Fire Hell in Mundus’ absence) as well as the innumerable Dagon horde before allowing his would-be protégé to defeat the godlike Savior for himself. Dante’s last canon appearance found him battling his way into Hell once more to destroy Argosax, the most powerful evil deity to ever exist (game quote), a culmination of every demonic god he had faced thus far. Not only did Dante shatter this beast, he bested what came next – the nameless embodiment of Chaos and Despair.

Kratos was one of dozens of illegitimate children of Zeus who rose to the position of Spartan general. When a barbarian horde smashed through his army, Kratos swore his soul to Ares in exchange for victory. After single handedly obliterating the barbarian forces, Kratos began a beleaguering decade of service to the Greek pantheon, including such adventures as containing a rogue Persephone, Goddess of Dischord and Death, murdering his wife and child, wielding Pandora’s Box against the mad Ares and finally being duped by his own power-hungry father, resulting in Kratos’ second death. Infuriated (Kind of normal for him), Kratos took up arms with the Titans – namely Gaia – against the Pantheon in a war for control which has yet to be resolved. (This will be modified accordingly following the release of God of War III.)

Powers: Dante has exceeded even his own father, Sparda (See: DMC4), in demonic power. His “Devil Trigger” bridges the gap between his mortal shell and the demonic energies his father imprisoned in Hell 2,000 years earlier, allowing him to assume his full form anywhere and any time he sees fit. He is nearly immortal, able to shrug off blows that would be beyond mortal to anyone else. He is faster than the speed of sound, and impossibly strong, able to lift a massive five-story marble statue off the ground. He wields Rebellion, a sword given to him by his father that has come to embody all of Dante’s physical power in this world, and Ebony and Ivory, custom-made devil arms (weapons made in and with the power of Hell) that fire unlimited .45 caliber bullets charged by his own demonic aura. The aura itself is also a weapon, used defensively to form an impregnable shield on several occasions, and also via blasts of hellfire from Dante’s hands used both as projectiles and as melee weapons. Dante is also a known master of high-level demon magics, capable of locking away even gods’ powers – or killing them.

Kratos, while stronger than an ordinary man by his own genetics, largely relies on vestments by other beings for his power. He was initially powered by Ares, then by Zeus, then by the Titans, though shows no canon representation of divine might by his own accord. His skills in melee combat are to be admired, as he is both beyond mortal limitations (Faster, stronger, tougher than any man due to his godly vestments) and a Spartan warrior. Though Kratos often gives the impression of a raving murderer, he is also an established strategist, rising to the rank of general in the Spartan army. Kratos has commanded various godly magics throughout his adventures, commandeering Pandora’s Box, granting him power enough to contend with the God of War, has wielded Poseidon’s waves, Hades’ armies of the dead, Zeus’ Thunderbolts, Atlas’ tremors, Artemis’ divine arrows, etc. Kratos’ signature weapons are the Blades of Chaos/Blades of Athena, two thickened shortswords attached to his arms by long chains. Combined with his magics and ferocious hand-to-hand capabilities, Kratos has overcome such adversaries as the Kraken, Harpies, Minotaurs, Cyclopses, Gorgons, the undead, griffons, Titans, Morpheus and even the Pantheon on a few occasions. However, it is important to note that Kratos, while powerful, is still mortal. He has even died twice before, being forced to brave the dangers of Hades himself once until aided by an Athenian wiseman, and being rescued by Gaia’s grace the second time.

The Verdict: Plain and simple – Kratos has killed gods. He slew Ares, the god of war, with Pandora’s Box; He bested Persephone wielding Zeus’ mighty Gauntlet. He even gained a great upper hand against Zeus himself, accidentally killing Athena in the process, using Zeus’ own blade, the Blade of Olympus, charged with all the divine energies bestowed unto him at the end of the first game. Plain and Simpler: Not a single one of those feats could have been accomplished without the gods making Kratos into something he wasn’t to begin with. Dante has slain gods too – Mundus, Abigail, Argosax, Berial, bested the godly power of Sparda after Arkham took it, and had ample power to destroy the Sparda-charged Savior (but didn’t, allowing Nero to save his own town). Dante also achieved all but one of these with his own power, using his own weapons (Vergil appeared to aid Dante against Arkham; After defeating him the two faced each other and Dante bested Vergil for the first of two times.). Looking beyond mere feats, however, there is no way Kratos would keep up with Dante. Dante is far Kratos’ superior in raw speed and agility, and also commands the range of this battle with Ebony and Ivory, which fire far more quickly and dish out far more damage than Kratos’ lone bow. Up close, Kratos commands a distinct advantage in raw physical might, but given Dante’s teleportation capabilities(‘Dark Slayer’, Air Trick), flight, his own host of melee weapons (Beowulf, Gilgamesh, Ifrit – all of which are hand-to-hand Devil Arms) and, again, the fact that Dante doesn’t have to get close null what appears to be Kratos’ one advantage. What could become a very real possibility in this battle, however, is a simple stalemate between Royal Guard and the Golden Fleece. Should this occur, however, or Kratos tapping his Rage powers, Dante is still more than capable of opening a salvo of dimensional sword slashes inside Kratos’ guard with Slash Dimension C/F, or locking away Kratos’ divinity entirely with a Jackpot Seal. To my knowledge, Kratos possesses no such abilities. On a final note, while Kratos may have use of Pandora’s Box, and that would otherwise tip the scale of power here, Dante also has Pandora’s Box. The difference – Dante’s shoots missiles. Dante takes this cake, through and through.
