Official Racing Games Thread

Hey guys, I like to think of myself as AF's resident race driver, but I know I can't be the only one who enjoys racing games here. I personally play Gran Turismo 5 but whether it be Forza Motorsport, Dirt, Shift, rFactor, GRID, Need for Speed, and hell even Mario Kart, we all can share our competitive spirit here in this thread. I'll start by giving a tip, and showing off lol.

Every good racer knows you can drive more freely when you have less things to worry about, like for example, a comfortable seat. I rebuilt this cockpit just for driving in GT5, previously for PC sims like GTR2 and rFactor. Whether you're driving with a wheel in one of these, or using a gamepad on the couch, the key is for your seating position to be an afterthought, so you can focus on 3 things, Your opponents, the next turn coming up, and your car.

quick question what are your guys favourite Need for speed game?

Thanks. My favorite Need for Speed has always been NFS: Hot Pursuit 2. For two reasons. One, the street racing was perfect. If you were too fast into a corner, you might understeer into a slow car. If you were too slow, the AI would kick your ass or you would be caught by the cops. Ever since HP2, I thought the NFS series got way easier to play, and more boring. The second reason, the soundtrack. I still listen to the songs from Hot Action Cop(We're Going Down On it and Feva For the Flava), Bush(The People That We Love) and Rush(Victory) to this day. It made me want to drive faster and faster. The racing games these days don't compete imo.

oh cool, I liked the underground ones. As they were the first need for speed games that I really got into, carbon was good as well.

In a more serious note, the only racing game that I stuck with for a long time was Project Gotham Racing 2.

PGR series is great, I wish they were on PS3

A full fledged sim by the developers of netKar Pro? I'm interested already.

There Ferrari virtual academy game was very solid

I was trying to win a car to race with for the A-Spec Gran Turismo World Championship(GT5) so I ran the B-Spec race with the tuned R35 that comes with Spec II, so I basically just sat there for about an hour directing my driver to victory, and whaddya know I BEAT THE GAME. Lol it gave me the ending movie. There's still a bajillion races left, and I still need to run GTWC myself.
