Sakamichi no Apollon Empty Sakamichi no Apollon

Sakamichi no Apollon 36007l

Nishimi Kaoru has moved from city to city and school to school because of his father's job. So the first day at his new school was just routine for him. Being intellectual and the new transfer student, he has always been seen as an outcast and all Kaoru had to do was bear it until the next time he moved. But things were slightly different this time. First, he started to get close to the class president, Mukae Ritsuko, and, secondly, unlikely as it seemed, grew closer to Kawabuchi Sentaro. Sentaro was infamous for getting into fights, skipping class and was an overall bad boy. Strangely enough, the three of them find common ground in music, namely jazz, and Kaoru finds himself actually enjoying the new town.

READ THIS NOW.

So do I really need to say anything here? Do I? Yes your eyes are not lying or deceiving you. You have until April to prepare yourselves.

Also bonus points for figuring out the poll answers.

The news link should have been adequate for this particular anime, but fine. Pic and summary added.

Thanks for the reply though furball.

mitebcool

I was hoping for a completely original show instead of just directing an adaptation but this seems interesting enough.

Yoko Kanno's Jazz inspired music in a new anime. I'm definitely giving this a go.

Expecting dude in the front to be main character.
Kind of interested.
Nope, it's that fucking generic piece of shit behind him.

All I need to say is Shinichiro Watanabe and Yoko Kanno.

That makes this anime a must watch.

hm...
you do realize the number of people, who would realize who those are, is severely limited, right?

I would guess that would be a quota of abou 98 to 99 % of all Anime watching people... (for knowing atleast one of them, I'm afraid)
Normally people introduce stuff like that in a certain manner like Yoko Kanno famous anime composer or Shinchiro Watanabe, the creator of Cowboy Bebob... etc. because names alone have in most cases next to no weight except they are very nearly omnipresent. And Watanabe only produced a small number of anime and Kanno has no large media exposure in my knowledge.

Even Seiyuus are very well known outside Japan. My for that matter isn't either, I kinda go by

I have to disagree with this. When i finished cowboy bebop, the first thing i did was order the soundtrack. And look up the director to see what else he had done. Thats usually what someone does if they finished a Very good anime, sinces Good animes are hard to come across these days. Best way to go is to track the director. This way i discovered Samurai Champloo, Eureka seven, Macross plus, Mind game, and the weird collaberation that is Genius Party. I think, about everyone that really enjoyed cowboy bebop would be pretty familiar with the names Kanno or Watanabe. I know i am :P

When I was about 16 (7 years ago), I got my dad to order the Wolf's Rain soundtrack by Yoko Kanno for me. I would hope that most people here at least know who Yoko Kanno is. She's done the soundtrack for so many amazing shows (Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, Macross Frontier, Wolf's Rain, Aquarion, RahXephon, Excaflowne, and more).

I would agree with this.

Yoko Kanno has a high bar to live up to, problem is she passes the bar every time.
