Mobile Suit Gundam Seed hated?

Question for everyone:

Why does Mobile Suit Gundam Seed get so much hate and criticism? I'm about 40 episodes into the show and think its one of the best gundam series to ever come out. Yet all I hear about it is flak and vile. I don't get it. Yeah everyone brings up the classic Zeta and Wing which are also great but I feel that this series gets a bad rap and I can't see any reason why thus far.

Please note I'm 40 episodes in and have not finished it so don't spoil the ending for me...

I thought it got about as much criticism as any other.

SEED borrows heavily from both the original series and Zeta, for better and worse.
Most of the issues people have with SEED are common in almost every other entry.

The thing that probably irks people the most is that the level of teen angst is at an all-time high for much of the series. Destiny has an even bigger problem with this.

"Gundam" and teenage angst are the two most common denominators in any entry, so it shouldn't be off-putting to anyone who has already watched a Gundam series before. SEED and Destiny just hit you over the head with it a bit more than most.

Okay I get the teenage angst part, my opinion is that its done better than any other gundam series and their emotional tantrums and issues are very justified for the most part.

To me it should be up there with the best of all of the Gundam offerings.

I can't speak for Destiny....YET.

I hated it back when it aired on Toonami, maybe only watched 12 episodes before I dropped it. Have been thinking of giving it another try since there is that HD reboot of Seed coming out

The HD reboot is out on torrent circles. I definitely recommend it.

they hated it cause they recycled the battle animations over and over and over and over and over.

and Kira is f'ing Jesus he just kills everybody.

and as wing said, this series has the most teenage angst out of any series.

In my opinion they didn't go "dark" with the plot showcasing the horrors of war or something. Compared to 00's story with armed intervention, Seed's "good vs evil" was too light hearted with teenage angst.

I liked it though. Then again i'm a sucker for mechs.

Of course they will, but I was just curious if there was some justification for the hatred.

Its quickly becoming my favorite Gundam series and I never thought anything would be better than Zeta in my eyes.

I feel exactly the same, my two favourite series ever (Other than Unicorn ofc). My guess is that the real reason is people just hated that a non-UC series tried to retell the original UC storyline.

I still stand by the fact they kind of went lazy and recycled attack animations.

I didn't mind when i was young, but watching it now i'm like "wow, they did recycle a lot"

Maybe so, but the HD remaster is absolutely beautiful. Definitely don't mind the recycling.
