Synopsis:
Thought your life was bad? Sometimes, death is worse. There is no salvation, peace, nor god waiting to receive you into their care. But wait, a god? Maybe you are talking about that big black ball stuck in the room with you. Now you are thrown into a game, fighting green aliens and robot monsters for the chance to survive.

When Kei Kurono is killed, he thus finds himself caught in such a game; a test of his skills, morals and will to survive. His life is not his own, his death spat and trampled upon over and over again. What happens if he does not listen? God knows.

A word of warning: Gantz is not for the faint-hearted, but neither is it as simple as it looks. Gore, rape and violence is rampant, as are portrayals of greed, violence, and all the ugliness that one sees in society today.

It seems the author isn't a huge fan of society.
Amazing story, and the monster design is also really, really good.

I still can't believe what they did to Nishi and Cherry easily the two most awesome characters. Can't believe Oku did that to Nishi twice. Gantz makes me rage yet again. Oh btw 369 is out it has Hitler in it.

The ending to the manga is near but the author disses and the undisses america. Though recently its the mericans who've been figuring shit out and fighting the good fight. And here I thought he only hated the Japs.

nah man they diss humanity as a whole

From the very beginning it's been dissing society as a whole, then hundreds of chapters later incredibly powerful aliens invade and completely obliterate most of humanity almost instantly.

Then Rex overreacts to a line that said something like "America is gone!" which it didn't mean literally but was just driving home the point that even America had been defeated, the fact that they saw fit to even mention America at that point was a sign that they acknowledge its importance, not a diss.

But of course Rex and his fucked up logic = dropped.

But for the record even if it was dissing America what kind of reason is that to drop it?

Can't take any criticism? Not that a fictional scenario where your country is destroyed by aliens would count as criticism to a stable individual.

And that's it folks its all over Gantz is finished. Kinda hoped

would have made it out. That last boss battle was good though the execution style leaves a lot to be desired. It still leaves some unanswered questions unfortunately. Overall I give it 7 i suppose

Yeah I don't know why he rushed it he's been dragging his feet for so many years why rush it now

I just picked it back up... I think I stopped at 368.

I was expecting some grand realization about life, and was left wanting. I'll give the manga 7/10 just because the idea is there it was just weak at certain parts like mentioned above by Spider.
